Five regular season weekends have set the seeds. This weekend, all eight WCSA teams get their shot at the championship.
Victoria arrives as the #1 seed after winning its first regular season title and earning their spot to represent the WCSA at the 2027 Canadian Collegiate Softball Association championship. UBC Okanagan, Lethbridge and Calgary round out the top four, but none of the seeds comes with a guaranteed place in the final. Pool games on Saturday will decide which four teams reach Sunday’s semifinals.
When?
Saturday October 3rd to Sunday October 4th, 2026
Where?
Shouldice Athletic Park softball diamonds
Calgary, Alberta
What’s at stake?
The short answer, a spot at the 2027 CCSA national championship. The long answer, the WCSA awards two of its member teams the opportunity to represent the league at the annual national championship tournament.
Teams can earn one of those two spots by either;
- Achieving the best regular season record or,
- Winning the WCSA Championship tournament
However, if the team with the best regular season record makes it to the WCSA Championship gold medal game then the WCSA will also grant the silver medal team the opportunity to represent the league at nationals.

Saturday, October 3: Round-Robin Pool Play
The top two teams in each pool advance to the semifinals. Pool winners earn home-team designation on Sunday morning: the Pool A winner hosts Pool B’s runner-up on Diamond 3, and the Pool B winner hosts Pool A’s runner-up on Diamond 6. Both semifinals start at 10 a.m. Sunday, October 4.
Saturday’s standings may come down to more than wins alone. If teams tie for placement, the league applies head-to-head results first, then runs for and against (with a maximum plus or minus seven per game), fewest runs allowed, most runs scored and ultimately a coin toss to break the tie. Every run could matter when three games determine a pool’s order.
Sunday, October 4: The championship bracket

The semifinal winners play for the 2026 WCSA title at 12:15 p.m. on Diamond 6. The two teams who lost in the semifinal play for bronze at 12:15 p.m. on Diamond 3. Teams finishing third and fourth in their pools also return Sunday for placement games, so every team plays on both days.
| Time | Diamond | Game | Matchup |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10:00 a.m. | Shouldice #3 | Semifinal | Pool B runner-up at Pool A winner |
| 10:00 a.m. | Shouldice #6 | Semifinal | Pool A runner-up at Pool B winner |
| 10:00 a.m. | Shouldice #4 | Fifth/sixth place | Pool A third-place team at Pool B third-place team |
| 12:15 p.m. | Shouldice #3 | Bronze medal | Semifinal losers |
| 12:15 p.m. | Shouldice #6 | WCSA Championship | Semifinal winners |
| 12:15 p.m. | Shouldice #4 | Seventh/eighth place | Pool A fourth-place team at Pool B fourth-place team |
Who will make it through Saturday? In Pool A, Victoria faces a Calgary team that shut it out once and a Mount Royal team enjoying a program-record season. In Pool B, UBCO and Lethbridge split their regular season series, while Saskatchewan and Regina both beat UBCO in the final weekend.
