Western Collegiate Softball Association Revamps Brand

Introducing the New Visual Identity of the WCSA

2–4 minutes

For more than two decades, the Western Collegiate Softball Association has provided student-athletes across Western Canada with the opportunity to compete at a high level while representing their universities with pride. Throughout that time, the league has continued to evolve. New institutions have joined, competition has grown, and the WCSA has established itself as one of Canada’s premier collegiate softball leagues.

As our league continues to move forward, we felt it was time for our visual identity to do the same. We’re proud to introduce the new official brand of the Western Collegiate Softball Association.

This isn’t about leaving our history behind. It’s about building on it. The refreshed logo was designed to reflect both where we’ve come from and where we’re going. Every element was chosen intentionally, representing the league, the regions we call home, and the values that continue to shape the WCSA.

“It was important to me that the WCSA’s visual identity reflect who we are as a league: past, present, and future. Every element of this brand has a purpose. Each piece tells part of our story, from the provinces that shape our league to the history and values that unite us. I hope this becomes something every member of the WCSA community is proud to wear and proud to stand behind.”

Mikaila Etheredge – WCSA President

A League Built Across Three Provinces

The new logo tells the story of Western Canada.

The Rocky Mountains represent Alberta, where the WCSA was founded. They reflect the strength, resilience, and legacy that established the league and continue to inspire it today.

The prairie wheat symbolizes Saskatchewan while also echoing the seams of a softball, serving as a reminder that our sport is rooted in communities across the Prairies.

The flowing waves represent British Columbia and the Pacific coastline, capturing both the western edge of our league and the momentum that continues to carry us forward.

At the heart of the logo sits the Canadian maple leaf, recognizing the shared identity that connects our member institutions and student-athletes from the coast to the prairies.

Honouring the Past While Looking Ahead

Although the overall look has evolved, one element remains intentionally familiar. The WCSA lettering has been retained as a tribute to the athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, volunteers, and founders who built this league. Their work created the foundation that allows today’s student-athletes to compete and succeed, and that legacy deserves to remain part of our identity.

The colours carry meaning as well. Navy represents tradition, excellence, and strength. Light blue reflects the skies, mountains, lakes, rivers, and coastlines that define Western Canada. White symbolizes integrity, sportsmanship, and unity, while the red maple leaf proudly reinforces our Canadian identity.

More Than a Logo

A brand is more than a graphic. It’s the story people associate with an organization. It’s the standard we hold ourselves to. It’s the identity our student-athletes wear every time they step onto the field.

As the WCSA continues to grow, this new brand reflects our commitment to elevating collegiate softball in Western Canada, creating meaningful opportunities for student-athletes, and building a league that our members can be proud to represent.

This logo marks more than a visual change. It represents a league with a renewed sense of purpose, a clear identity, and an ambitious vision for the future. While we’ll always honour the foundation that brought us here, the WCSA is writing its next chapter. And we’re just getting started.

Built on Tradition. Driven by Progress. Forward together.
