Week One Recap & Standings

Opening weekend produced 156 runs across 14 completed games, with weather creating an uneven schedule.

In Kelowna, rain limited each team to a single game on Saturday before the schedule caught up with three games apiece on Sunday. UBC Okanagan emerged as the league’s only undefeated team at 3–0–1, followed by Victoria at 2–1–1, Mount Royal at 1–2–1, and Lethbridge at 0–3–1. Two matchups — UBCO vs. UVic and Lethbridge vs. Mount Royal — couldn’t be fit in and remain TBD for rescheduling. Sunday also produced two ties in Kelowna, reinforcing how closely matched that field was.

Regina, Saskatchewan, and Calgary each finished 2–1 at Douglas Park, where all four teams played a full three games on Saturday, while SAIT went 0–3. All four scheduled Sunday games in Regina were postponed, preventing those teams from playing a fourth game; Regina vs. Calgary, Calgary vs. Regina, Saskatchewan vs. SAIT, and SAIT vs. Saskatchewan are still to be rescheduled.

Standings After Opening Weekend

With the first games in the books, here’s how the conference shakes out:

UBC Okanagan takes the top after 3 wins on the weekend. Calgary, Saskatchewan, and Regina are all tied at .667, and the WCSA’s tiebreak rules sort out the order: Calgary holds the #2 spot on run differential, and Saskatchewan is placed ahead of Regina based on their head-to-head result.

With several games still to be made up from the Kelowna and Regina weekends, plus four more weeks of regular season play, there’s plenty of season left to shake up the order.
