2026 WCSA Championship · Saturday, October 3 · Shouldice Athletic Park, Calgary
Victoria earned the #1 seed with a .740 regular season winning percentage. Calgary is #4 at .565, Mount Royal #5 at .460, and SAIT #8 at .043. On Saturday, those four teams play a three-game round robin for two places in Sunday’s semifinals.
The first big test comes immediately: Calgary and Mount Royal meet at 10 a.m., just six days after Calgary won both of their final regular season meetings. Victoria has the strongest season record against its pool, yet both Calgary and Mount Royal have beaten the Vikes. SAIT has already shown it can surprise a top seed, having upset UBC Okanagan in September.

Each team’s path to the semifinals
#1 Victoria: Control the circle, then the pool
Victoria went 3–0 against SAIT, 3–1 against Calgary and 2–1 against Mount Royal in the 2026 regular season. The Vikes can build an early advantage against SAIT, but their two afternoon opponents have each found a way to beat them: Calgary won 9–0 in September, and Mount Royal took a 7–5 game.

Kaitlyn Penner finished with a 2.16 ERA, Hudsyn Milne with a 2.45 ERA, and Madison Hillman hit .451 with four home runs and 21 RBIs. If Victoria’s pitching prevents Calgary and Mount Royal from putting together big innings, the Vikes have a clear route to the top two. Win the pool, and they will host Pool B’s runner-up in Sunday’s 10 a.m. semifinal on Diamond 3.
#4 Calgary: Get ahead early
Calgary went 3–1 against Mount Royal, 1–3 against Victoria and 3–0 against SAIT. Its opening game with Mount Royal carries extra weight because both teams are chasing a top-two finish. The Dinos won their two meetings on September 27 by 9–1 and 12–5; another win would give them the first result in that race. They also have a 9–0 win over Victoria to draw on at noon.

Angelina Hargreaves recorded 49 quality at-bats and 18 RBIs, Chloe Kinghorn hit four home runs with 18 RBIs, and Madison Belden struck out 56. Win the opener and take at least one of the remaining two, and Calgary will be well placed for Sunday. A tie among teams with two wins is still possible, making the league’s tiebreakers relevant.
#5 Mount Royal: Turn a milestone into another step forward
Mount Royal went 1–3 against Calgary, 4–0 against SAIT and 1–2 against Victoria. The Cougars have already made history with a program-record 10 regular season wins, capped by Sara Trevis’s walk-off hit for the record-setting victory.

Trevis finished batting .464 with four home runs and 20 RBIs; Riley Chapman posted 54 strikeouts and a 2.85 ERA. Mount Royal’s four wins over SAIT give it a strong case in the middle game, but one win alone may leave its fate to tiebreakers. To take control of a semifinal place, the Cougars need to beat Calgary in the opener or repeat their earlier win over Victoria in the finale, while handling SAIT at 12:15 p.m.
#8 SAIT: Bring the upset mentality to all three games
SAIT went 0–3 against Victoria, 0–4 against Mount Royal and 0–3 against Calgary. The Trojans still have an upset to point to: their lone regular season victory was a 6–5 win over UBC Okanagan. They also pushed Calgary to 5–4 on September 26.

Olivia Dafoe hit .368, and Makayla Douglas supplied three home runs and 11 RBIs. To reach the top two, SAIT must turn at least one close-game opportunity into a win and likely find a second result; a one-win finish could require a favourable tiebreak. Limiting big innings and cashing in with runners aboard would keep the Trojans in each game, starting with Victoria at 10 a.m.
The top two Pool A teams play in Sunday’s 10 a.m. semifinals. The Pool A winner will be the home team against Pool B’s runner-up on Diamond 3; Pool A’s runner-up will visit the Pool B winner on Diamond 6. Follow the WCSA schedule and compare the 2026 regular season head-to-head results as the pool takes shape.
