Performances of Note from Week 3

From a two-homer explosion to a walk-off walk, Week 3 was full of standout performances that just missed the top spot.

Willa Bonsall took home week 3 Player of the Week, but she wasn’t the only one who turned heads in Saskatoon this weekend. A few other performances deserve a shoutout.

Thiemann was the most dangerous power bat in the league this weekend, hitting .400 with six hits, two home runs, and eight RBI. Her biggest moment came in the opener against SAIT, where she went deep in both the first and second innings to help Mount Royal to a 17-3 rout. Few hitters in the league can match that kind of run-producing weekend.

McAvoy quietly put together one of the best two-way weekends in the league. In the circle, she threw 15⅔ innings with a 1.787 ERA, allowing just 10 hits against 61 batters faced for a .200 batting average against. She didn’t slow down at the plate either, hitting .333 with three hits and three RBI in nine plate appearances.

Rice was a steady presence at the top of Lethbridge’s lineup all weekend, hitting .385 with a .429 on-base percentage. She came through in key moments too, going 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot in the win over UBC Okanagan and delivering the go-ahead hit against SAIT.

Hudsyn Milne, University of Victoria

Milne had an efficient weekend in the league, hitting .833 with an .857 OBP across seven plate appearances. She backed it up in the circle as well, tossing five shutout innings against Lethbridge with a .059 opponents’ batting average, allowing just a single hit.

Madison Belden, University of Calgary

Belden turned in another sharp pitching performance this weekend, throwing five scoreless innings with a .063 batting average against and five strikeouts to help shut down Victoria, a tough feat against the Vikes powerful bats.

Rhyan Sigmeth, University of Regina

Sigmeth was everywhere in the circle for Regina this weekend, racking up 26 strikeouts across the team’s five games. That kind of workload and production, start after start, made her one of the most heavily relied-upon arms in the league all weekend.

Makayla Douglas, SAIT

In a tough weekend for SAIT, Douglas provided one of the highlights, launching a home run to left field in the loss to Regina. It was a bright spot in an otherwise rough stretch for SAIT, and a sign of the kind of pop she can bring to the lineup.

Kerr delivered the signature moment of the weekend, drawing a bases-loaded, walk-off walk in the bottom of the fifth to beat UBC Okanagan 9-8.
