If you were looking for the most complete offensive performance in Calgary this weekend, you didn’t have to look far. University of Lethbridge’s Jenna Funk was nothing short of dominant across five games, reaching base at an absurd rate and doing damage every time she stepped into the box.

Funk’s signature moment came on Saturday, when she went 4-for-4 with a home run in Lethbridge’s 16-13 slugfest win over Saskatchewan, a game that set the tone for the kind of weekend she was about to have. From there, she barely cooled off, staying near the top of Lethbridge’s lineup as one of the most consistent, dangerous bats in the tournament all weekend long. Lethbridge as a team put up runs in bunches all weekend, and Funk was at the center of it, leading the offense through their most explosive stretch of scoring.

By the Numbers

  • 19 PA
  • .714 BA
  • .737 OBP
  • 1.737 OPS
  • 1.000 SLG
  • 10 hits (8 singles, 1 double, 1 home run)
  • 4 BB
  • 8 RBI
  • 100% contact rate
  • 14 QAB
  • .800 average with runners in scoring position

The numbers back it up. Over 19 plate appearances across five games, Funk hit .714 with a .737 on-base percentage and a 1.737 OPS, the kind of stat line that’s more typical of a hot single game than a full weekend. She collected 10 hits, including eight singles, a double, and a home run, while drawing four walks and driving in eight runs. She barely missed a pitch worth hitting, posting a 100% contact rate and 14 quality at bats, and she was especially lethal with runners on, hitting .800 with runners in scoring position.

Put simply: Funk got on base nearly three out of every four times she batted, rarely swung and missed, and delivered when it mattered most. That combination of volume, consistency, and clutch production is what earned her Player of the Week honours in a weekend full of strong contenders.

Other Performances of Note

Week two’s action didn’t disappoint, and there were many performances of note. We could add about fifteen different names to this section, but here are four:

Rhyan Amundson was a steady presence in Saskatchewan’s lineup all weekend, hitting .733 with six stolen bases and coming through with multi-hit production late in the schedule. She gave Saskatchewan’s offense a reliable spark on the bases and at the plate even as the team’s overall results were mixed.

It was a close call between Amundson and Funk for Player of the Week, but Funk’s edge came down to RBI and power production — the kind of big swing, run-driving impact that helped push her team to a successful weekend overall.

Riley Chapman did it all for Mount Royal, hitting .462 on the weekend while going 3-for-3 in Friday’s win over SAIT. She was just as busy in the circle, throwing 11 innings with 14 strikeouts and a 2.471 ERA, giving her a hand in nearly every phase of Mount Royal’s weekend.

Emmersen Bonville was the engine behind UBC Okanagan’s strong weekend, hitting .556 with a 1.915 OPS, six RBI, and a home run. She was consistently in the middle of the action every time UBC Okanagan needed a big hit.

Parker Huot provided the pop for the University of Calgary, posting a .529 on-base percentage, a 1.452 OPS, and 10 RBI on the weekend, including a grand slam against Lethbridge. She backed that up with a three-run shot against Mount Royal, making her one of the most powerful bats in the tournament.
