The University of Calgary Dinos and the UBCO Heat delivered one of the most thrilling contests of the weekend, battling to a 12–12 tie on Sunday at The Quads in Coaldale. Calgary’s offense was powered by Chloe Kinghorn, who drove in four runs on two hits, including a three-run home run in the second inning that electrified the Dinos’ dugout.

The Heat set the tone early, jumping out to a 5–0 lead in the top of the first inning with a string of timely hits. Taylor Roeseler and Kamryn Allin combined for three RBIs, while Cheyenne Simicak capped the rally with a run-scoring single. Calgary answered immediately in the bottom half, narrowing the gap to 5–3 with Emily Friedt’s two-run homer and a sacrifice play by Hallie Miller.
The game’s turning point came in the third inning when Simicak crushed a three-run homer to left field, flipping the momentum back to UBCO and giving the Heat a 9–7 advantage. Just as Calgary appeared to have seized control with Kinghorn’s big blast in the second, Simicak’s response silenced the Dinos’ surge and put the Heat back in front. From there, both teams traded blows in a seesaw affair that kept fans on edge.

Calgary continued to show resilience, tying the game in the fourth with small-ball execution before UBCO once again reclaimed the lead in the fifth on a solo home run from Emmersen Bonville. Kinghorn delivered yet again in the bottom of the inning, singling home the tying run to lock the score at 12–12. Neither side would break through again as the game ended in a hard-fought stalemate.

Both teams posted strong offensive numbers, with UBCO tallying 13 hits and Calgary collecting 11. Simicak led the Heat with three hits and three RBIs, while Kinghorn and Friedt paced the Dinos with clutch swings of their own. Madison Belden was steady in relief for Calgary, striking out three over three innings, while the Heat leaned on a balanced lineup that delivered throughout.
